Job Market Recovery

We are starting to hear of more promising and positive news this week as we move through 2021 into the summer months. The Office for National Statistics has confirmed that the job market has now started to recover with vacancies and job opportunities now at a level higher than the first 3 months of 2020, prior to the first Covid-19 lockdown in the UK.

The Office for National Statistics has said there were 862,000 jobs available between April and June, 77,500 higher than the first three months of 2020.

The rise was driven by vacancies in retail and hospitality. The ONS also stated that It had increased by 356,000in June to 28.9 million.

As more people returned to work, there was a sharp increase in payrolls in both the food and accommodation sectors.

With that in mind, do you have any upcoming recruitment that you would like to kick start and need support with?

Warwick HR is here to help with all your recruitment needs, and if you are interested, we would also recommend integrating psychometric testing into your selection strategy.

Psychometrics can be a great way of identifying candidates with the specific skill set and job characteristics and traits that you are seeking. Tests can also be a great tool in helping to improve accuracy when selecting the successful candidate in partnership with a strong and robust interviewing procedure.

Making the wrong hiring decision can cost an organisation anywhere between 30% - 176% of the annual salary of each vacant position. Therefore, by embedding an additional tool such as this into your recruitment & selection toolkit you can give yourself some added peace of mind when looking to ensure the characteristics required for the role have been met.
